Ansökan 922/17 – Utveckling av effektiva nickelkatalysatorer bundna på nano-cellulosa för grönare organisk kemi.

The project will study a coating concept, where film forming polymers and layered mineral pigments form coatings with significant fire retardancy on wood. The project team represents different scientific disciplines at RISE, Research Institutes of Sweden. Currently, one of the main problems of fire retardant wood coatings/treatments is poor transparency leading to an unpleasant appearance. Architects often require that the wood be visible in that wooden ceilings, lining, furniture, etc., which sets high demands on the transparency of their coatings. Most fire retardant coatings do not fulfill these requirements. The project creates new and accessible knowledge of fire retardant wood coatings, especially relevant to the building sector. In the long term, the development of a competitive knowledge-based biobased building materials industry sector stands to enormously benefit heavily forested countries like Sweden.
